I found this video of an interactive pulse mirror that translates the viewers pulse into a visual with a series of color and circles.

This is one of my favorite kinetic sculptures I’ve seen. A series of 108 different plastic bags are ordered on a grid and are programmed for time of inflation. As they inflate/deflate together, you see a sense of motion as if the piece is moving or breathing, and a sound similar to the tide of the ocean is formed. It also reacts to the viewer’s motion as they may walk by or stand and observe the piece.

http://www.popsci.com/technology/article/2011-04/reprogrammable-chips-could-allow-you-update-your-hardware-just-software
I came across this article over the course of the week and thought it had a very interesting topic. The idea of updating hardware via reprogrammable chips is game changing and would save a lot of people both money and resources. Why was this not thought of and implemented sooner?

No new discovery log this week because I am working on finals, planning for interviews, and trying to keep sane in the process. I have also had to move to my mother’s house which is a big change for me. The reason why this is such a change for me because I am used to living alone. And my mother’s house doesn’t have any wifi/internet services. So that means I do most of my work on campus. I wish I had time to search the web, but I was really busy last week.

Most of the tech that I have found this past semester have been above the average American’s pay grade. However, like the homemade head tracking I found earlier this year, the “Cheap Multitouch Tablet” is something anyone can do. I never figured that a cardboard box could be used to make a fully functioning tablet. Now I just feel bad for the people who spent $400 on an iPad. I was skeptical at first, but once the live demonstration begins, I was surprised as to how well it seemed to work.
