What I like about this is that Rives really uses three sets of rules here rhyme, the keyboard, and the projected presentation. I’m not sure that his story can be understood without his narration, but for certain the story would not exist without the emoticons, most of which he seems to have made up (maybe I’m just not fluent in emoticoneese.) The symbols and rhymes he used as limitations within which to create his story and then the verbal and visual presentation create the bridge between the symbols and the audience.
Man, I am excited.
